A quick update to let you all know that HB2841, the Juvenile Expungement Reform Bill, passed out of the Human Services Committee today. Thanks to those who made calls to committee members and special thanks to Enlace Chicago which traveled to Springfield on Tuesday to meet with members to encourage them to vote the bill out of committee.
Here are the next steps:
1. We need you to call your state representatives to encourage them to support HB2841. Drop by their offices, write them letters, and make calls.
2. Complete the online petition to add your name to the supporters of this bill. Also get your friends to sign on too.
3. Talk to your friends, family, and neighbors about the importance and value of juvenile expungement reform.
4. Organize an educational event about juvenile expungement in your community.
